If you would like to learn about rope bondage, first sign up for the email list to be notified of classes. Then go to RopeBitePgh.com where I have a lot of links and resources to get you started. You will often find the style of rope that I do called shibari. Shibari is a Japanese word that means tying or to tie. Kinbaku is also a commonly used word which means tight binding. From my research, neither word in Japanese society (plus we aren’t in Japan) means rope bondage which is why I don’t use them. To learn more about the history and myths (of which there are many) of Japanese rope, please read this amazing article by Midori.
